What is Consignment?
Consignment is a way for you to sell your nicer quality, women’s clothing and accessories at a better price then you would get if you sold them at a garage sale. It is also a way for you to shop for those items you would really rather have at a fraction of their retail cost in an environment that is designed especially for the discerning clothing shopper. Consignment also helps the environment by promoting the reuse and recycling of no longer loved clothing!
What do we accept?
We currently are accepting a wide variety of woman’s clothing, shoes and accessories. All items should be current styles only, usually no older then 3 yrs old, or timeless classics. We will accept some vintage at the owner’s discretion. We prefer your nicer brand items, think Macy’s and up. Check under our Consign page for best selling brands and a list of brands we do not take.
How does it work?
All Items to be consigned are on an appointment basis only. Items must be clean, pressed, on hangers or wrinkle free, free of stains, rips, missing items. Basically ready to put on the sales floor. We will go through your items to determine what we will take. All items will then be priced at the stores discretion. Within 1 week after we intake your items, you will receive an inventory list with everything listed and priced. When the items sell, you will receive your percentage of the sales price to your account. The percentage to the consigner is 40% with certain designer items we will pay 50%. All items are held for 60 days.
Who Determines the prices of my items?
The staff of Just Between Us Boutique determines the sales price of your items. We generally price items at 40-70% below current market pricing. A newer item, popular style or size usually allows for a higher sales price. We also look at values of similar items selling on Ebay to determine our price point. When unfamiliar with an item, we will ask you so we make sure we are consistant in our pricing. When you receive your item list, the prices we determined will be included! Keep in mind that we have the ability to mark down items in order to get them to good homes!
What if I want to determine the price?
We are happy to direct you to other alternative selling solutions. We often recommend Ebay, garage sales and other consignment venues for clients who prefer to have more control over their price point!
What will you not accept?
While we would love to accept as much as possible, our goal is to sell your items as quickly as possible so you can make some money and re-stock your closet! Try to keep seasons in mind. Even though many consider California ‘seasonless’, we do find it hard to sell sweaters in August and linen shorts in February. Also, these are items you think someone would want to buy. If you just want to give it away or finally get rid of those bags that have been sitting in the garage for months, then chances are those items are best given to charity. What happens to my items that do not sell?
Any items that are not snatched up by buyers will become the property of the store after a 90 day period. Those items may be donated to deserving charities or utilized for other events at the stores discretion. Remember, we do allow for consigners to pick up their unsold items within a specified period so mark your calendars if you want your items back.
What if I would like my items returned?
We prefer that you bring us items with which you are ready to part! Consigners who want items back must come in within 8 business days following their 60 day contract period and pull their own items. If you would like us to pull items for you, we need 48 hrs notice and will charge a $1.50 per item pull fee. We can also email your list so you can see what is remaining prior to requesting us to pull!
How do you keep track of everything?
Just Between Us Boutique uses industry specific software to maintain our accounts. All items are tagged and barcoded. Each consigner receives a personalized number so everything is confidential. Any time an items sells, the proper account is credited right away!
